Sectors
Levels 1–3 build expertise; Sectors apply it. Each sector course assumes the Level 1/2 foundations and focuses purely on what's different about that industry — its processes, its energy benchmarks, its regulation, and which systems matter most there. A retail specialist and a data-centre specialist can both be at “Level 2 depth,” just pointed at very different sites.

Energy in the landlord-tenant world: offices, ratings and retrofit
Apply Levels 1 and 2 to the sector where the person paying for efficiency is rarely the person who benefits from it. Commercial buildings answer to a web of parties (landlord, managing agent, tenants) and a thickening stack of regulation: MEES minimum standards, EPCs and operational ratings, and from 2026 a regulated heat-network regime. The engineering is familiar (HVAC, lighting, controls); the challenge is making it happen across a lease.
PUE, uptime and the grid: energy where every kilowatt runs twice
Apply Levels 1 and 2 to the fastest-growing energy consumer in the country. A data centre turns electricity into computation and heat, around the clock, behind resilience guarantees that make every change a negotiation. This is where the power chain, refrigeration, free cooling and the affinity laws meet a sector the UK has designated critical national infrastructure, with its own CCA, a planning regime in flux, and a bill measured in gigawatt-hours.
