To judge whether a CHP scheme is worthwhile, you have to measure its performance properly, because a nameplate efficiency means nothing if half the heat is dumped. A handful of metrics separate a genuinely efficient installation from an expensive generator, and understanding them is what lets you challenge an optimistic vendor projection. This lesson covers the efficiencies, the power-to-heat ratio, primary energy saving, utilisation, and the spark spread that ultimately decides whether the unit runs.
