Beyond PUE: Utilisation, Water & Carbon

A facility can have an exemplary PUE and still be one of the most wasteful buildings in the country, because PUE only judges the wrapper around the IT, never the IT itself. Whether those servers are doing anything useful, how much water the cooling consumes, and what carbon sits behind each kilowatt-hour are separate questions with their own metrics, and they are increasingly the questions customers, regulators and planning authorities actually ask.
