Data centres are one of the few building types with their own dedicated Climate Change Agreement, a fact that surprises people who associate CCAs with steelworks and dairies. The sector negotiated its way into the scheme on energy-intensity grounds, and the renewed agreement now sets a concrete target: a 14.5% energy-efficiency improvement on a 2022 baseline by the end of 2030. For an operator, that target converts every measure in this course into levy relief; for an auditor, it means the sector arrives with data, baselines and an accountable owner already in place.
