Data centres are one of the few building types with their own dedicated Climate Change Agreement, a fact that surprises people who associate CCAs with steelworks and dairies. The sector negotiated its way into the scheme on energy-intensity grounds, and the renewed agreement now sets a concrete target: a 14.5% energy-efficiency improvement on a 2022 baseline by the end of 2030. For an operator, that target converts every measure in this course into levy relief; for an auditor, it means the sector arrives with data, baselines and an accountable owner already in place. This lesson covers the CCA as it stands, the reporting schemes around it, and the F-gas obligations sitting on the chiller fleet.
