Operating Pressure & Losses
Flash steam at pressure reduction, quality loss, and optimising operating point.

Since saturated steam's temperature is fixed by its pressure, choosing system pressures is really choosing process temperatures, and it carries more energy consequence than any valve or trap decision. Run too high and every loss in the system (radiation, leaks, flash) grows with the extra temperature; run too low and processes starve or heat exchangers can't keep up. The standard answer is a deliberate split: generate and distribute high, use low, and understand the flash steam created at every pressure drop.
