A building's plant can be perfectly installed and balanced and still waste energy, because the controls that drive it are programmed wrongly. Control commissioning verifies that the BMS or control system executes its intended logic: that each mode does what it should, that sensors trigger the right response, and that the system fails safe when something breaks. This is where the most common and most expensive control faults are caught, above all heating and cooling running at once. This lesson covers the on-site testing of control sequences.
