Energy-efficient lighting is not just about efficient lamps. Once the LED retrofit has settled the technology, the design decides whether the installation is genuinely efficient and pleasant to be in: the right light, in the right place, for the task, without glare or over-lighting. Good lighting design saves energy and improves the space at the same time, and the two goals are usually the same goal. This lesson covers designing for the task, avoiding over-illumination, controlling glare, and using surfaces and daylight.
