Boilers and fired heating plant are among the largest energy consumers in most facilities, and among the most sensitive to maintenance: small lapses translate directly into wasted fuel, hour after hour. Because fuel is the dominant lifetime cost of a boiler, boiler maintenance repays itself many times over in saved energy. This lesson covers combustion, fireside fouling, waterside scale, heat recovery, controls, and a maintenance routine, complementing the boilers and fired systems course with the maintenance view.
In this lesson
