Motors drive the pumps, fans and compressors that account for a huge share of industrial and commercial electricity use. Their maintenance is often overlooked precisely because they usually "just run", until inefficiency or failure sets in, and because they run for thousands of hours, small inefficiencies add up to large energy costs over a year. This lesson covers why motor maintenance matters, bearings, cooling, alignment and belts, then pumps and fans specifically, complementing the motors and drives course.
