Seasonal Storage
Storing summer heat for winter use (seasonal storage); long-term strategies.

Most thermal storage shifts energy by hours; seasonal (interseasonal) storage shifts it by months, capturing abundant summer heat for use in winter. It is technically demanding and slow to repay, but it is central to some of the most ambitious low-carbon heat schemes, because it solves a mismatch no daily store can touch. This lesson covers the seasonal mismatch, the scale-and-loss physics that make it inherently large, the main technologies, and where it makes sense.
