Thermal energy storage lets you separate when heat (or "coolth") is generated from when it is used, which is what turns a cheap off-peak hour or a burst of midday solar into useful energy later. There are two fundamental ways to store thermal energy, sensible and latent, and the choice between them runs through every technology in this course. This lesson covers both, compares them, and explains why storage exists at all.
