Interviewing Stakeholders

Understanding usage patterns, past issues, maintenance history, and energy consciousness.

Meters record what a building does; only people know why. The maintenance engineer knows which chiller has run flat out since a control failure two winters ago. The production supervisor knows the afternoon shift props the loading bay doors open. The finance manager knows which projects died in committee and what killed them. An audit that skips these conversations delivers technically correct recommendations that fail for reasons everyone on site could have named. Interviewing is not a soft extra; it is a data-collection method with its own craft.
