Hybrid Systems (Fossil + Renewable)
Boiler + heat pump, PV + grid, diversity for resilience.

Real buildings rarely run on a single energy source. Hybrid systems combine renewables with conventional supply, or several renewables together, so that each technology works where it is strongest, delivering lower carbon and cost than any one alone while keeping the supply reliable. This lesson covers why to hybridise, the two most common hybrids (heat pump plus boiler, and PV plus battery plus grid), renewables plus storage, multi-source systems, and how to design a good hybrid.
In this lesson

- 02Heat pump plus boiler (bivalent heating)
- 03PV plus battery plus grid, and renewables plus storage
