Pathway to Net-Zero (Retrofit Sequencing)

Insulation → electrification → renewable generation → storage.

Renewables are powerful, but they are most effective as part of a sequenced plan. The route to a net-zero building follows a logical order that gets the most carbon and cost benefit from each step, and following that order is what stops an organisation over-spending on renewables bolted onto an inefficient building. This closing lesson sets out the sequence, explains why demand reduction and electrification come first, covers generation, storage and honest offsetting, and ties the whole curriculum together.

In this lesson

  • 01The sequence: reduce, electrify, generate, store, offset
  • 02Why demand reduction, then electrification, come first
  • 03Generate, store, and offset honestly
